2018 is set to be an exciting year at The Outbuildings in terms of what we have to offer. Since we first opened our doors back in 2010 we have had a dream of expanding the kitchen and developing our own kitchen garden. We were truly inspired by our visit to Ballymaloe Cookery School back in February and we felt that it was time to invest in more extensive professional kitchen that reflects the talents of our resident chefs Wayne and Rod and give them the opportunity to truly showcase their skills and creativity.
The new kitchen refurbishment is perfectly timed as we develop our restaurant menu. In addition to our increasingly popular food evenings, the restaurant itself is open for dinner. We are currently developing a new menu for each dining session and we can’t wait to welcome you through the doors after closing for an intensive few weeks to allow for the refit.
We’ve had great fun over the winter selecting the relevant kit for the kitchen and planning the kitchen garden. 2018 will see The Outbuildings expand upon our reputation as a fine dining establishment and our appeal to “foodies” who are looking for something a little bit different. Our Feast Nights are growing in popularity and there are some important dates to add to your diary including The Royal Feast on 18th May in line with a certain royal wedding and The Summer Feast on 25th July to name but a few. We are also continuing with our popular mid-week Supper Club that takes place on a Wednesday evening, once a month. Diners can enjoy three delicious courses, prepared by our experienced chefs, for just £20. These evenings are relaxed and fun for all. As the days get longer, you can enjoy drinks on the terrace and even a game of tennis!
Our kitchen garden is something that we’ve been planning in our heads for years. We can’t wait to see it come to fruition and have just planted the first of our crops, a delicious horseradish brought back from Ballymaloe. The possibilities are endless, however in our first year we’re growing staples including carrots, tomatoes, runner beans, leeks, potatoes, along with our chefs favourites cavallo nero and calabrese. We’re also planting some gorgeous salad essentials including rocket, chard, spinach and more. We will keep you updated on our progress over the coming months. We’d best get our wellies on and get digging!
We’ve just enjoyed another busy weekend hosting private dining and a joyous Christening on Sunday. It was lovely to see such a happy party celebrating by sitting down to a delicious Sunday Roast in the restaurant. We continue to welcome small and large groups for special occasions, landmark birthdays, anniversaries, fantastic weddings and much more. The Outbuildings is the perfect space to hire for exclusive use and we also have great accommodation for those wishing to stay over. We offer a bespoke service and can discuss any ideas that you may have to make a special occasion even more memorable.
